Robust conversation was held throughout the Congress. The need for more grounded research in quality assurance was emphasised. Need to consider each transition phase from ECD to Retired Mentor was also made mention of.

Deputy Minister, Mr Buti Manamela, provided some words of encouragement: ‘Career Development Practitioners are our soldiers. You are the first battalion we are releasing out there into the country. Go and work with young people, drive their passion. You are there for that, and I have so much hope, that you will do our country good’.

Together, with our partners, we are working to support Ethics, Access, Quality and Growth through the career development profession.


National Career Development Practitioners Congress

Please register on our website to be kept informed of all news. The focus of the Congress will be on best practice at each stage of the South African Skills Funnel (SASF). The Congress will also include workshops and materclasses on the skills required to flourish, going forward.

South African Skills Funnel

The SASF includes child-headed households, orphanages, homes, pre-schools, basic schooling foundation, intermediate, senior, three-stream, colleges, universities, apprenticeships, learnerships, internships, mentorships, incubators, re-integrators, or any other South African structure, that leads to decent and meaningful work.

National Careers Week

National Careers Week 2020, will take place from 16 to 20 March 2020. This event will include career development interventions at all levels of the SASF. For further information, please email: , and watch this space.

Jobs Board for Career Development Practitioners

A recommendation from our sister body in the United Kingdom, the Career Development Institute, is to establish a Jobs Board. The purpose of such Jobs Board, is to streamline the recruitment, placement and performance management of Career Development Practitioners and their Employers.

National Career Development Awards

The National Career Development Awards are geared to showcase best practice throughout the SASF. Each winner will be recognised through all our platforms. The registered Career Development Practitioner winner will be sent on a foreign career development exchange program.
